加拿大安格斯列特研究所（Angus Reid Institute）稍早公布最新民調結果，針對加拿大人認為渥太華當局應該對美國、墨西哥、台灣、印度、中國、俄羅斯等6個國家的定位。結果顯示，只有12%的受訪加拿大人對中國持正面看法﹔40%的加國人民認為該國當局應將中國視為對加拿大的潛在威脅（potential treat），另外還有22%的受訪者認定中國是敵國（enemy）。
安格斯列特研究所的網站指出，加拿大人對中國的評價接近歷史最低點。這與中國高空氣球侵犯加拿大領空，以及中國涉嫌介入加拿大兩次選舉有關。
相對的，超過半數的加拿大人對台灣抱持正面觀感。16%的受訪者認為加拿大政府應該將台灣視為“有價值的伙伴與盟邦”，40%的受訪者認為應將台灣視為友善國家。
讓加拿大人印象比中國還壞的是俄羅斯。37%的受訪者認為加拿大政府應將之視為敵國﹔另有35%的受訪者認為俄國是加拿大的潛在威脅。
加拿大人對美國的印象則來到2016 年以來的高點。48%的受訪者認為加拿大政府應該將美國視為“有價值的伙伴與盟邦”，25%的受訪者認為應將台灣視為友善國家。

【本報訊】關元瑜（Yuan-Yu Kuan）被台灣首屈一指的研究機構中央研究院任命為博士後研究學者。這個享有盛譽且競爭激烈的獎項支持新興年輕學者的研究和出版。
這項任命（2021年7月至2023年6月）提供了訪問中央研究院和全國其他檔案館的龐大而全面的檔案的機會。他的顧問是H.C.中央研究院民族學研究所的Tasaw Lu。
關元瑜於2019年在夏威夷大學完成博士學位，其民族音樂學論文題為“音樂導航：琉球群島和台灣群島之間的文化融通和本土性”。他由劉長江（Frederick Lau）教授指導，他曾在夏威夷大學的民族音樂學項目和亞洲研究項目任教。
該獎項支持出版一本關於台灣與琉球土著人民當代互動的重要出版物，並為他持續探索台灣本土性別建構及其南島關係提供資源。

Yuan-Yu Kuan has been appointed POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLAR at ACADEMIA SINICA, the premier research institution of Taiwan. This prestigious and highly competitive award supports research and publication for emerging young scholars.
The appointment (July 2021-June 2023) provides access to the vast and comprehensive archives of the Academia Sinica and other archives throughout the nation. His advisor is Dr. H.C. Tasaw Lu from the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica.
Kuan completed the PhD at the University of Hawaiʻi in 2019, with a dissertation in ethnomusicology titled “Musical Navigation: Cultural Hybridity and Indigeneity among Islands of the Ryukyus and Taiwan”. He was mentored by Prof. Frederick Lau. He has been on the faculties of the Ethnomusicology Program and the Asian Studies Program at the University of Hawaiʻi.
The award supports development of a major publication on contemporary interactions between indigenous peoples of Taiwan and the Ryukyus and provides resources for his ongoing explorations of indigenous constructions of gender in Taiwan and their Austronesian connections.
